This provides clear and concise roadmap to avoid unnecessary suffering: ------------------------------------------------------ Spydertrader 11-12-07 09:29 PM November - Putting it all Together Continued .... So how do we go about shortening the time for each step above and thereby give ourselves the greatest opportunity for success? We begin by first looking for, and then correctly identifying, the areas which need attention. By this I mean to say, statements such as, âIâm confusedâ provide no guidance as to where one might search for enlightenment. Contrast the previous statement with, âHow can I avoid entering on a retrace of a retrace?â and now you have an exact recipe for producing successful improvement of your trading. Nwbprop used to say that his favorite time of the day was the âdebriefâ because he often learned so much during this time. Hopefully, the lessons he learned and articulated have helped others do the very same thing â debrief daily (even several times a day if need be). After all, once one can correctly identify a problem area, one can then set out to locate a solution. More often than not, youâll find the solution between your ears. So we begin this self-analysis process just as we begin any journey â at the beginning â checking to see if we annotate correctly, efficiently and fully. If we do not correctly annotate, then we must begin to make changes in order to correctly build the pathways needed within our brains to âseeâ the signals provided by the market. Once the required annotations have taken place (and an appropriate time has passed allowing the brain to actually build the pathways, and not the traders setting some arbitrary deadline), we move onto the analysis phase. Here we check to make absolutely sure we know how to read the basics. Do we understand how Gaussians lead Price? Do we know consistently what must come next? Can we âseeâ (on our specific resolution level) where we are always with respect to the right side of the market? If not, then we need to go and review. The Journal is set up for review multiple times. Each pass, something which once made little sense, or appeared to come across with one meaning may appear different another time through. Why? The context has changed, and as I always say, when the context changes the answer changes. This time the change in context resulted from a change in the trader. As a result, the trader sees things differently than before, and hopefully, this difference results in an âAha!!â or two along the way. Once we have answers to our questions, and the number of questions begins to decrease on a regular basis, the time has come to move to the next phase of the process. --------------------------------------------------
I dont know the differnces to a "T" that bundlemaker had. I've read all the posts back and forth that led to his leaving the forum for good. You mistake me for someone who doesn't believe the system works. INCORRECT. Ive posted numerous times that I believe the system works. I'm not trying to denigrate the system. I believe in its profitability potential. This isn't an argument saying the Hershey system is garbage. Its about how progress is made or the lack there of. The problem is that any slight whisper of negativity about how things are being conveyed is considered treason. But this isn't even the scariest of things in my mind. What scares me even more is that I feel even people who aren't consistently profitable with this method or even profitable at all(I am one of them who isn't profitable) can be the ones shouting treason. That turns the forum into a cult and is not healthy by any means. To be honest I feel that people get very defensive in this forum towards comments indirectly affecting them and especially comments towards Spyder that sometimes aren't meant to be personal whatsoever. People have their opinions. And if anything you should get the sense of how much I want to learn this and how much of a yearning I have not the sense that i want to throw in the towel. The Cowboy Up comment is ridiculous because what do you think I'm doing.... I want to learn the method so bad that I'm being completely honest and throwing myself out to the wolves mentioning that aspects of the system can get confusing. Many here make it seem like a teacher has no responsibility. That's really ashame. It's a good thing this country doesn't feel the same way. If I want to learn more than anything else in the world how to play baseball and my father wants me to understand baseball, is he gonna throw a bunch of baseball equipment in the dirt and say "OK play baseball" then walk back in the house?
I know of only one other person who called Spyder a teacher, and demanded a teacher do what a teacher should do.
I know of a few people who believe the number one way to validate a system is to convince a detractor or even an unbeliever. Some even asked to see the blotter, execution report, T&S, video, live calls, etc.
Let me take a wild guess and say that at the time you took upon yourself to chime in on what bundlemaker had to say that was in the slightest bit directed towards spyder. Let me take another wild guess, without looking through posts(completely a shot in the dark here), there is not one example of you getting into a thought-provoking disagreement with Spyder in this entire forum.
Haven't ask to see any of those once(look it up)....Let me ask you this.... You ever heard of Paul from the Bible by any chance?? If you haven't.. read his story regardless of your religious background, the point will still matter. Unfortunately for this forum, there is and might not ever be a Paul. I myself am not a candidate cause as I said I do believe the system works but hopefully some day there will be a Paul here. It certainly would'nt hurt this system at all.
Since I may have shared the same feeling of frustration that you experience, but for a different reason, allow me to point a few things that restored a proper perspective for me: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1614395#post1614395 http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1591097#post1591097 http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1591097#post1591097 http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1599489#post1599489 As far as one of your reasons for frustration, it may be caused, in my opinion, by inability to understand Spydertrader's thought process and the reasons as to why and how he choose to annotate. Well, here's a flash: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1502470#post1502470 HTH
I don't think thought-provoking disagreement was ever an issue in this forum. I do think it is trouble when you feel people are ganging up on you. The answer given might not be the one you like to hear, but I don't think you have to take it the negative way.
I would not even imagine you do not believe in this system. If you have jumped to such a conclusion through erroneous extrapolations and assumptions, please put that thought away now. How I feel about you should not be a factor in your success.
Quote from makosgu: "... This entire journal is FREE. No one is obliged to make demands of any sort. It's a two way street here. For those that understand, it is a reinforcer. For those who don't, it is something to contemplate and sort for themselves..." This is a very laid back nonchalant approach to a very serious and intensive topic(trading) It makes me feel (not to offend anyone) "Hippy-ish" If everything is free and nothing is to be expected of anyone, then wheres the drive, wheres the focus, and what's the point???? What if you cant sort it out for yourself all the time, you should just give up and sacrifice the time you put in?? People put endless hours and energy into this forum to reach a place they believe is worth sacrificing for. Trading is extremely intense financially and emotionally. This is trivializing it. "... There are more than just a few bread and butter folks around here. We do not hear about these folks because they do not want to be known AND sadly do not want others to know..." Im sure there is but this doesnt negate the fact that a lot of people w/o considerable success will defend the system to death "From the beginning, the goal is simple. Learn how to make your bread & butter. It is a very critical initial step." thats what I thought I was doing by sticking to simple "M" and just monitoring when that got complicated I started asking what wont get complicated? Let me end this by saying you wont get rid of me unless you start deleting my posts. Ill see this one out til the end. Many of my friends family and others see trading as a joke but I know from experience and we all know here.... it is not a joke.... it is very far from it. When I was having unheard of days(from my my experiences), I became a believer and it took me 8+ months to get there and a lot of discourse. I'm gonna continue to monitor everyday and ask my questions. And one day hopefully Ill get there and pay it forward.
