Iterative Refinement

Discussion in 'Journals' started by Spydertrader, Jan 3, 2008.

  1. I am only responding because, if there is something I am 100% sure with an absolute certainty, that would be the fact that there's no 'true' FTT. FTT may lead to BO or FBO without any predictive power as to which one will happen. You're misinterpreting his post. The logic of his comment was: this is not a change signal on traverse resolution (a subject I have yet to fully understand, and therefore I am just repeating the word as a parrot) and therefore it could not be an FTT. As to the reasons why it was not a signal on traverse resolution, he also consequently explained it in one of the posts that followed. And if you didn't get it,:) well you're not along. I spent entire night going through all posts that mention words resolution or fractal, but nothing clicked yet.

  2. Last night at around 3:00a.m. there was a post deleted from some guy saying it was naive to believe jack and spyder without documents or something like that.

The post was deleted. Now I don't really care that the post was deleted besides the fact that it was a post that in someones opinion brought up a negative view of the system. It didn't contain vitriol or anything of that sort. In fact I was thinking at the time that it is naive to believe that Spyder would waste his time for years teaching a system that he didn't believe in.

Now why I am positive about the merits of the system, I did express some frustration with the ways things drag on and the way things are conveyed.

The situation I gave about how you have different teachers and some reach you and some don't is completely fair. The fact is that like learning.... teaching is also about adjusting. Bundlemaker(from what Ive read)was driven to near insanity it looks like trying to get this point across. The fact is there's no bend in the way things are conveyed in this forum and it builds frustration. But the saddest thing of all is people see the way Bundlemaker and the kid above(in an extreme case)are shunned and they are probably terrified to bring constructive criticism into the teaching and passing along of this method.

That is plain pathetic in my opinion. Constructive criticism is essential to any learning progress. If you cant express that the ONE AND ONLY way things are being conveyed is hard to understand, then you are a quite simply a drone in my opinion.

Also, in my opinion the number one way to validate a system is to convince a detractor or even an unbeliever. When someone like bundlemaker who put countless time into this system is driven off the reservation, it says to me that there's a lack of confidence in the system which I don't believe there is. I feel people are too proud about the system to go after people like bundlemaker. If you believe in something you make it known that it is the way and you ADJUST to make sure even the ones who fall off the path know that.

I am sorry to hear this is how you see the event around Bundlemaker. I followed the discussion as it happened, and that is not how I saw it. I will not get into a discussion about him in here (it is not productive), but I do see the similar path you are taking.

The following is not directed at you, but anybody who felt Spyder is not responding to your needs:

I would suggest the following to you:
Do a search of Spyder's posts with your handle as keyword.
Then write down all the recommendations he made to you.
    Check off each recommendation as:
    1. accepted and done
    2. accepted and in progress
    3. don't know what he was talking about
    4. I did not see his recommendation in the first time around.
    5. I do not agree with his recommendation, so I am not doing it
    6. I agree with his recommendation, but it is too difficult/pointless, so I am not doing it.

Don't forget to mark the date of the recommendation, and the date of your action.

If you need me to do it for you, I would be happy to.
(p.s. you can do the same for Bundle too if you think he was unfairly treated.)

edit: This exercise will yield surprising results to you, because you will see how oblivious you were to Spyder's plea.

  4. Teaching and learning are two different things. One is what is done to you, the other is what you're doing to yourself. If trading can be taught by writing a book or series of posts, it would have been done. If instead there's a progression of different ways of looking at the market and how it works starting with rockets and icebergs, followed by an FTT and change and continuation, well then there's an obvious reason why. And it's definitely not because somebody wants to keep a secret grail to themselves.

Look at Callmate's posts where she describes what she's done and how she trades. Find Avi 8 posts she referred to. She was profitable even before she could match her gaussians to her channels 100% of the time. :D Of course learning to draw correct gaussans should definitely help.

no amount of 'talking' or proof will convince somebody whose mind is already made up about how certain thing is supposed to work

  6. If anybody had kept a copy of the transcript of the last skype chat with Spydertrader, that took place in mid-February, I would greatly appreciate sharing a copy. TIA

Todays chart. Nice fireworks at the cash close.

Catching up with all the posts from the last weeks, it looks like the journal is becoming a showcase of analytical skills  . I really hope there are other ways, more intuitive paths, to understanding this method. Perhaps I'm in for another surprise :( .

  9. LittleMac,

A few days ago I was caught by a comment you made.
So I went back over about 100 posts surrounding your commentary.

It was after work for me but I colud get away with it because Liz was at a long evening meeting.

Then I wrote up a long post about the situation because I felt it would create a breakthrough for you. Then two things happened. I went through some folders in thumb drives to get an illustration from a few years back.

This jiggled things apparently and I had not transferred my potential post to Word which I MUST do because of time constraints and my not being able to afford losing the post.

I knew I was going to pay the piper if I were caught out here after dark. So I took the chance and got to read "technical error" as the post would not go to ET. A couple of hours of work down the tubes. Fortunately I have four pages of notes and that wasn't getting me to feel good at that moment.

It is like when I see something I wanted to deal with (sort of head off a little) and I make it a point to bear down on getting the picture to clear. I deviated from my work load to take the steps to package the ingredients because I know they will get double duty later in my work schedule. Posting in here is difficult, very very difficult, for me because I know how much additional time others have to spend to maintain this thread when I post.

What I finished the effort with was a comment on how I deeply felt you would continue and how great the payoff was for everyone because of the future benefits that would accrue to so many others down the line. Its a very long line of several generations.

    Regards,

    Jack

  10. In addition to choosing not to do the work necessary to build a solid foundation, Bundlemaker never understood that he was neither a client or a customer.

Spyder makes himself equally available to complete strangers for their sole benefit not his. Additionally he continually shows understanding, flexibility and unbelievable restraint with those who continually complain he doesn't do enough.

Cowboy up. This stuff is hard. Understand this and be determined to make some progress everyday (even if that is just putting in an effort) and and your journey will be considerably better and eventually profitable.
