Great discussion earlier today on knowing context. Here is how I knew to hold. <img src=http://elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=1910582>
ES Daily Chart May - 5 - 2008 ES Daily bar formed a LL and a LH closing on less volume. Holiday today. Avi 8, if you have not completed the screenshots I will delete this post so you can continue and I will post after you are finished. Just pm if you need me to.
Chart for today... having a bit of trouble with text in Ninjatrader so FTTs are annotated with diamonds I drew the dashed channel in the middle in RT. After I saw it wasn't on Spyder's chart I took another look. It occurred to me that there was no increasing black (=blue) volume after pt3, which (afaik) makes the channel invalid - is this correct?
A ton of helpful comments and charts today Thanks, everyone. SpecterX, I drew that little dotted channel because I thought that the red OB began as increasing black. chart/debrief chart
I'd like to thank Avi 8 for initiating today's discussion and Atari for the valuable analysis - I tried to apply Atari's analysis to bar 6 to see why one should hold until bar 9 - (I'm annotating only with the ES) - when bar 6 closed - it's too obvious to me that it MUST be a change - Retrace has started (decr Vol) - and Price had the IBGS character - When bar 7 opened and quickly moved lower - I was very happy to see that my anlysis was right .. until bar 8 of course! After reading Atari's - the only context I could come up is that at bar 6 - one should hold UNTIL pt3 arrives and THEN look for VE, Flaw, FTT. What am I missing? I'd appreciate if Avi 8, Atari or anyone who has some free time to provide some assistance. Thanks Spyder for posting the chart today. Thanks Callmate, Mr Black, Guavaman, Romanus ... to name a few - you all are my inspirations - at times I don't think "my light" has a spot at the end of the tunnel - but seeing "yours" - I KNOW mine is lurking somewhere - I just have to work hard to find it and with the tremendous support I've been receiving through PM's and here on this thread - I KNOW I'll find mine
