We have not been able to get passed Java, albeit we have reloaded Java as well, hence it seems the problem is with IB. Anyone else having this problem?
I noticed when i got a new vista laptop and went to download TWS it stalled. I was frustrated until one time i left it stalled and walked away. It appeared the progress meter was calculated improperly because within a minute or so it loaded normally. Could be the same problem.
I hate it when when that happens to me. I usually get that when I try to login from work, but no problem from home. I think it has to do something with being behind a proxy server at work. At any rate, the workaround is to use the stand-alone TWS (need to download and install it on your PC): http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/control/systemstandalone.php?os=win&ib_entity=llc
Can the settings from the server be downloaded on this? How would you describe the differences between the two, i.e. what would this be lacking?
They are both the same. As long you have your settings saved on the server, this stand-alone will load your settings. If you want to be safe, save a backup of your current settings in TWS so you restore to it from other TWS if you have to, but I doubt you would need to do that.
Thank you much, as I would never have explored option. I hope there is something I could help you with in return.
