I tried to short IFLG today, but the order was canceled right away by TD Ameritrade. I tried to short other stocks in the past, like IFLG, big poppers, but my order all got canceled by TD. However, someone on internet trading board mentioned he shorted IFLG 12000 shares, and I was only trying to short 1000 shares. Why is that? If it is impossible to borrow shares to short, why other people can do it? Any other brokers are better on this? Thanks, freewilly
I can assure you that no one posting on an internet message board shorted 12,000 shrs of a stock with only 3 million shrs outstanding. It is usually next to impossible to get a locate with these small float high fliers. I trade through IB and have a backup account with Ameritrade, I can sometimes find shares on these types of stocks through IB, but almost never with Ameritrade.
