Many thoughtful, real conservatives were alarmed at McCain's choice. Unfortunately, the moronic Hannity crowd destroyed the Republican party. My fear is that the power establishment now only needs to capture one party to maintain its status quo - to the detriment of the nation as a whole. If the Republican party wants to get out of the woods - it should stop pandering to that crowd, and only then will it get the independents it needs to win. Newt Gingrich had thoughtful, debatable ideas in 1994-95. That's what they need to do again. Palin is a disaster for the party. Any intelligent republican knows that.
