It Begins. Holder Announces Plan To Ban Semi-Auto Guns

  1. If Obama denies people the right to bear semi-auto and high cap magazine, he'll do a disservice to himself, and more importantly, the nation.

Crime is on the rise - things such as home invasions, kidnappings, car jackings and worse events.

Did anyone catch the video footage of the guy in Arizona who fended off a van load full of rifle and handgun wielding thugs who were intent on kidnapping of killing him to settle an old score. The guy was an ex-felon, but so what - he has a right to protect his life and property, and did his time.

Firearms is an emotional issue. Statistically, however, the number of crimes and even suicides (an often cited stat by the anti-gun rights crowd) are very low, and the U.K. proves that you can never really disarm a nation, and if you try, they'll kill each other with knives and themselves with pills (if they're predisposed).

Don't go down that treacherous road, BO. Don't renege on your campaign promise.

  3. You know youre wasting your breath. Hard core liberal true believers are either morons, women . . . or (if 'male') . . . pu*$ies. They believe those in big brother govt will take care of them . . . including protecting their sorry selves from physical threats.

There is NO WAY any individual or group can win a shoot out with the US ARMY. So forgetabbout a world-conquering, neighborhood militia. We all get one big bullet, called a VOTE. Did you fire yours?

Assault weapons that make it into public circulation do not kill burglars; they kill police officers. Just ask the Mexicans.

  8. Saxon, you are out of your element here, buddy.

    I mean no disrespect.

Obama won't ban a .308 rifle, which is much more powerful rifle than either an AR-15 or AK-47 (or AK-74), and yet the word is that he wants to ban the latter rifles.

That makes no sense. A .308 is far more lethal, has greater range, and can penetrate level II and III body armor and much greater distances than the 'evil black rifles' can.

Also, can you cite the number of American LEOs that are killed each year by 'assault rifles' in the United States?

I'll bet you it's less than 10, and maybe less than five.

I'll bet you that shotguns, hunting rifles, knives, cars and handguns each kill 100 times more LEOs than those 'evil black assault rifles.'

  9. As of right now Nancy Pelosi has put a halt to the drive to ban semi-auto rifles (true assault rifles are capable of selective fire which includes fully automatic and are highly regulated by the National Firearms Act of 1934).

She is probably worried that the democrats do not have enough votes to pass this legislation and the last time they did ban semi-auto guns... they paid a steep price in the 1994 elections. Many democrats are from Western and midwestern states where gun bans are not popular. However since she believes in gun banning at heart, it will eventually become an issue again. The next time they come up with a gun ban bill it will be a lot more stringent than the last one and will not expire.

In the meantime I am buying semi-auto rifles again, as the local gun stores near my house are selling out.

Folks who know about guns already know that this ban was about guns that look evil and not guns that are serious killing machines. Style over substance, hallmark of the American Liberal. Unfortunately for them, reality is substance over style.
