Well... we will see about that. Iran Tells France its Nuclear Rights ‘Cannot Be Taken Away by Threats or War' https://english.aawsat.com/world/51...r-rights-‘cannot-be-taken-away-threats-or-war
A little something to get the Ayatollah's attention. Doesn't necessarily mean Trump is committed to using them. He would send them anyway just to strengthen his negotiating position. The Nimitz aircraft carrier won't be in the region until tomorrow or so. And then they will need a few days to coordinate and test communications set-ups in the region. I doubt that Trump would take any action in Iran until the Nimitz is in place and settled into the area for a few days testing out all the communication links and coordinating with the many, many military sites and forces in the area. Unless something more immediate calls for it. Did American B-2 stealth bombers just take off from US base towards western Pacific amid Israel-Iran fallout? https://www.hindustantimes.com/worl...-towards-western-pacific-101750512105325.html
Most likely these B-2 bombers will be forwarded from Guam to Diego Garcia in order to be within 2300 miles or so of Iran.
As a sophomore in High School, 1967, I read The Ugly American as a project for a book report. I was immediately drawn in. I then read The Quiet American. Infatuation with SE Asia set in. Oddly, these reading were instrumental in my enlistment into the Marine Corps 3 weeks after graduating high school. I felt that I must see with my own eyes just what this mystical place was, and what we were doing there so that I could decide for myself whether or not we were in fact right or wrong. Boy were we wrong. As an aside the movie was okay. I agree a remake is in order. I really like the 2002 movie of The Quiet American starring Michael Caine, not for any real political insight. Just my continued fascination with the culture and history of the place. People need to travel more, immerse themselves in these strange to us cultures. Then perhaps not so hell bent on killing everyone, and gain some understanding why they hate us so fucking much. Hint, it ain't for our freedom.
A couple sources say that one of these Quds Qunts led the Iranian oversight of Hama's attack on October 7. That should make a couple posters here sad. Stay strong. Maybe move to Iran to get some support from your ilk. Israel says killed two Iran Quds Force commanders https://www.rudaw.net/english/middleeast/210620251
I must refresh on The Quiet Amercian, if I have seen it then it was forever ago. Yes, travel is essential to be able to understand some things, well travel and curiosity. Talking to people with no down and dirty experience abroad... Its like trying to explain color to the color blind Speaking of old movies and dubious freedom fighting, I started to watch The Wild Geese (1978) a few days back. Must finish. I was invited to meet Michael "Mad Mike" Hoare (parents were Irish) who its primarily based on at a social club in South Africa. Probably the most famous mercenary of all time because of the book and film. He was very elderly, died at 100 in 2020, but as I had just been working in Congo/Zaire and his infamous mercenary career in the 1960s was based there, shared a story or two. Not having seen the movie then probably good, I imagine he was asked the same things a million times. The character of Colonel Allen Faulkner played by Richard Burton in the movie is modeled after Hoare. The film also draws inspiration from the historical concept of the "Flight of the Wild Geese," referring to Irish soldiers who served in European armies. Worth a look, Richard Harris and Roger Moore are also in it.
Wary of that channel as there are pronunciation glitches that indicate its an AI voice to me? I have however heard that Israel is massively downplaying some insanely expensive infrastructure damage, can't confirm that yet. So the theme of this is bigger than anybody let's on may be true.
Israel definitely not being idle while all the dithering and bloviating amongst the American pundits is going on. They have a lot to worry about. Not only the immediacy of Iranian attacks but also their fear that America/Trump included will once against cave to some half-arsed deal with Iran so they want to get as many hits in against Iran before that all happens if it is to happen. Irans track record of gaming the Americans is rather good. Also, as I have discussed, the fact that Putin games Trump makes me nervous as well. As discussed in my posts with VZ, Trump can and does act tough but he also has a deep, deep, deep visceral need to be perceived as Mr. DealMaker even if a deal is not that great. It is between these two identities that he walks and you have to see which one you get. You did not have to go through this with Obama and Biden. You just looked to see what Iran wanted and you knew where they would end. With billions and billions of dollars in payment to the Iranians thrown in to help them keep their proxies going too. Meanwhile, Israel continues to be an extremely busy boy.
