Israel launches "preemptive strikes" against Iran

  1. Reza Pahlavi the Crown Prince in exile is currently opposed to the bunker bomb attack because, in his view, the regime is starting crumble. I don't know about that, but there is his view.

I will say this. The regime is certainly becoming dysfunctional. The Ayatollah allegedly has forbidden all high ranking people from carrying or being near their electronics out of fear that that is the reason so many in the regime have been killed. In addition, the Israelis have called for the killing of the Ayatollah after the hospital hit- which would send the Ayatollah even further into hiding and far away from electronics.

Hard to due business like that in an active war.

One issue with killing Khamenei is that you also need to eliminate the majority of the council of 50 clerics who selected him as their leader. There are multiple other mullahs waiting in the wings who would take over as the Supreme Leader in Iran. You would need to eliminate these candidates as well who are spread all over the country. Some are even more extremist than Khamenei.

  3. Yes, of course. And if you had a regime change and they are removed but still floating around that is problem. And the military is a problem too. Although it is funky there. It is really the Republican Guard that is the problem. Similar to Germany, the SS were the hard core problem. The line soldiers in the regular army just went home.

I have read that some believe that threatening the Ayalatollah was just part of the sending him off into further paranoia and distancing him from daily operations but that Israel does not want the Ayatollah killed out of fear that it would bring Hezbollah back into the battle. They worship his ass but are currently sitting the war out- translation, they be beaten down rather hard but are always up for anything fanatical.

  5. Yeh, I had a similar thought. When I heard that he had banned cell phone usage, I wondered if the Ayatollah and his men were still on Facebook or still on Match.com looking for goat.

They are not the exactly rocket surgeons.

Oh, and they need to careful with the goat. She would be with Mossad.

And yes, I know that the internet has been shut down in Iran but that only leads me to believe that the Ayatollah is accessing his facebook account via Starlink. Probably getting a good connection too. Might even be able watch his Pornhub account over in another window.

One missile with 20 bomblets? Or.. it never happened but they want to use cluster bombs, which they manufacture.

Israel is not a signatory to the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM), which bans their use, production, transfer, and stockpiling.

The 2006 use in Lebanon drew widespread condemnation; estimates say up to 4 million submunitions were fired, with up to 1 million failing to detonate immediately.

UN and humanitarian groups accused Israel of using them in civilian areas, causing long-term risks.

My cousin was a UN peacekeeper in Lebanon at the time.

All of which makes Israel raising a stink over Iran having cluster bombs in their missile the more idiotic. Just like Israel whining that Iran hitting a hospital the other day is a war crime. Hitting a hospital is a war crime, Israel? If so, folks in Gaza would like a word.

I agree, of course all these things are crimes and need to be noted. Have a look at the video I posted, the "most moral army in the world" littered Lebanon with them in the last 72 hours of the war, on their way out.

The point I was making is that Israel cannot whine that something is a war crime when it is done to them in midst of a war -- and have a record of doing the exact same things to others while claiming it is not a war crime. Either all of it (done by both sides) is a war crime or none of it is a war crime. Israel can't have it both ways.
