Difficult to know what pocket Merck is protecting here... but (1) there are LOTS of doctors who claim otherwise from treatments of their patients, and (2) The NIH took IVM off of their "not approved" list in January with the comment, "IVM is effective in treating Covid".
I will let rational people go back and read them if they have an interest in the subject. After all -- selecting the households for your sero survey based on someone in the household contacting the medical system for Covid treatment appears it will significantly skew the results.
