Isn't the "Fiscal Cliff" the Best Thing for America?

  1. If you are taking your money and buying a house, or giving it to charity, no. How does that help me? Give me my cut first, and then whatever else I leave you with you can do as you choose.

  2. what the hell else do they do? Why does Exxon and GE pay no taxes, but oldtime incorporated pays the full rate?

  3. Why have such complicated systems?

Base tarriff rate on all imports, from all sources. Base VAT on all purchases. All other corporate/personal "income" taxes eliminated. Rates determined by how much people want to spend.

States and locals can pile on with additional VAT and/or property taxes at their discretion, free movement of people will (more or less) ensure things don't get too onerous.

    Done.

Total elimination and transferring taxes to consumption should at best be applied first to a small secluded state like Alaska or Hawaii.

This model throws a bigger burden of taxes on middle and lower income groups, while rich can save and invest in taxfree programs to build up further. When lower and middle income groups are left with little savings and disposable incomes then economic consumption takes a hit which means stagnation or even recession. After certain point of consumption, rich cannot order new cars like evening gowns each month.

ps: RAT Republicanism should not become a fashion in town! Do what is good for the USA not the GOP RATism.

  5. *Everything* is, ultimately, a consumption tax.

It's about time to acknowledge this basic reality, and collect what we want to spend at the simplest collection points. Namely, ports and cash registers.

In that event, in order to increase sales, the vendors will start selling for cash and consumers are happy at not paying taxes :D

You will then ask for more administration and control but that defies the logic of smaller government. :D :D

  7. yeah, but I don't like hitting people up when they are just starting out. Especially the young couple that figures out they could do better buying a washer and dryer instead of going to the laundry mat. You want them to pay all their taxes up front. I want to give them some time to get on their feet.

There's plenty of time and money to pay your taxes later on in life. Not sure why this is so hard to figure out. I would never raise my kids this way, and force them to pay for my old age. Especially when life has been so good for me.

I would have no problem paying for my parents if they needed it. As a matter of fact, I already am. They call it medicare. It's just a horrible situation that is totally out of control.

  8. I just went in for a "wellness" check up and it turns out I'm depressed, have high blood pressure and I'm 1 doughnut away from being diabetic. I guess now I know not to eat that doughnut hence the "prevention". Why can't healthcare facilities just be deemed utilities. We can start trading drug futures!! I'm going long 4 lots of Lexapro.

If that dude knew it was going to cost that much for stitches would he have still gone ahead with the procedure? How hard is it to create a menu of the 100 most common procedures and just hand it to people? Then if you opt not to receive a service your health insurance co gives you a credit for sucking it up if the test or procedure isn't necessary.

  9. That's the normal model when inelastic demand meets private ownership, followed for electricity, water, nat gas. Health care has a huge built-in lobby that's against this, including corporate employees with good plans that are taxpayer-subsidized and who make up a big fat juicy voting bloc that both parties pant after like drunk & horny teenagers at a strip joint; that's the only reason it's not treated as it should be.

  10. so how do you fix that? we all bitch about it, we all know it is a problem. How do you fix it? and make it right?

Getting about tired of people bitching, that's all they do

but they never have a solution

and if they ever do have a solution, it's always something crazy, like, "Just kill everybody."
