Island/Arca membership

  1. Besides the cost of becoming a member, how difficult is it to become a member of both/either ECN ?

In order to get a direct connection to INET and/or ARCA, you first need to be a broker dealer (to have an ID that your trades can be cleared against). Then, you will need to pay the month connection fee, which covers the T1 connection, routers, etc. I believe this fee for Island is now up to ~$3k per month or so (used to be free in 1999, but you had to pay for your own dedicated frame relay connection, which was ~$1300 per month for me).

Note that my experience has been only with ISLD, but I assume that ARCA is similar.
