  1. If your only defense is quoting fiction...
and proving Godwin's law in the process...

  2. Defense? Fiction? That was no defense, I just found it quite ironic that George Orwell was making fun of you and your absurd views before you were even born. Don't you see the irony?

PS I am going to post this quote whenever you attempt to find moral equivalence where none exists.

  3. "In his last years, unlike several of his comrades around Tribune, Orwell had little sympathy with Zionism and opposed the creation of the state of Israel, as attested by his friend and Tribune colleague Tosco Fyvel in his book George Orwell: A Personal Memoir."

Quote whatever you like, and follow Godwin's law...as you did by introducing the Nazis via Orwell op ed piece.

    Quote from dddooo:

Goodwin's law: whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically "lost" whatever debate was in progress.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
    -----Mahatma Gandhi-----
Indian political and spiritual leader (1869 - 1948)

Reporter: What do you think of western civilization?

Mahatma Gandhi: I think it would be a good idea.

Killers of innocents on both sides of the Israeli and Arab conflict claim moral superiority...now that's ironic.

  4. LOL the nazis in this thread were introduced by wael. And Orwell did not compare pacifists to the Nazi which is what Goodwin's law is about. If he said pacifists are like the nazis you'd have a point but that's not what he said.

He made fun of your absurd views and mentioned the fact that a lot of people in France with views similar to yours ended up collaborating with the Nazis. This is a valid observation and has nothing to do with Goodwin's law.

  5. The UN Security Council failed to reach an agreement overnight Thursday on issuing an official condemnation over the deadly shooting attack in Jerusalem's Mercaz Harav Yeshiva because of Libyan opposition.

"Most members (of the council) wanted to condemn (the attack) but Libya blocked it," Israel's ambassador to the UN, Dan Gillerman, told reporters.

US Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said US efforts to issue a statement condemning the attack "in the strongest terms" failed because Libya sought to link it to its own resolution urging condemnation of Israel over the IDF operation in the Gaza Strip last week.

Khalilzad criticized Libya, saying that a terror attack specifically targeting civilians could not be equated to military operations aimed at stopping rocket fire.

Hey, wael, Z10, you're not alone, your views are shared by the government of Libya!!! Congratulations, you're in good company.

  6. How true this is. Too bad it's not the Hamas terrorists/murderers who are the only ones who will reap what they've sown. No, it is the Palestinian civilians who have to share in the monstrous harvest.

How simple it would be for Hamas to prevent the deaths of any more Palestinian civilians. Simply stop murdering innocent Israelis.

Oh, I forgot. Hamas has stated that its mandate is to utterly destroy Israel and murder every Jewish man, woman and child on the planet.

Has Israel stated that its goal is to murder every Palestinian man, woman and child? No? Oh, I see. What? They are willing to work towards a solution which includes the establishment of a Palestinian state? So they are taking the opposite approach? Hmmm.

Why won't the Palestinians go for that then?

What? Because their 'leaders' would rather fight until every Jew is dead?

But didn't they hold Parliamentary elections and elect another party, not Hamas? How did Hamas get into power?

They staged an armed coup and murdered their fellow Palestinians, smashing the democratic process in the face?

    Oh, I see.

And whose fault is it that Palestinians civilians are dying?

  7. You introduced the Nazi comparison via Orwells quote in your discussions with me.

I pay no attention to what wael does, was not engaged in an argument with wael, my argument was with what you said. Your use of Orwell is in effect an attempt to compare the Arabs to the Nazis, which is ludicrous of course.

I merely stated that both sides in the current conflict are wrong, and you introduced Orwell's comments related to the Nazis and young intellectuals and their pacifism.

Orwell did not take issue with the basic concept of pacifism, and did not condemn Gandhi for his pacifism...and it would be consistent to believe that Gandhi would view both Israel and Arabs wrong in killing each other, especially in the killing of innocents.

    Accordingly, Godwin's law...

No comment as to Orwell's position on Zionism and the state of Israel?

Funny, you parade around one quote from Orwell, then ignore another concerning Orwell's opinion on the state of Israel...

My views are not shared by Libya, as I would not oppose a UN condemnation of any killing of innocents by either Jews or Arabs...something both Jews and Arabs do with regularity...and at the same time both sides claim to be righteous and justified in doing so.

  8. Report: 22 Palestinian students killed in Gaza last week

The report, which covers the period between the 27th of February to the 3rd of March also shows that 20 students were injured in those attacks.

The report also said that during the Israeli ground offensive targeting the northern part of the Gaza strip last week the Israeli tanks partially destroyed two schools.

Also, the ministry revealed that troops attacked two schools in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, and fired rounds of live ammunition at the two educational facilities causing significant damage.

In the West Bank, several schools in the Qalqilia area, in the northern part of the West Bank, had to shut down for a number of days as the army invaded several areas and imposed curfew barring the residents from leaving their homes.

The Palestinian Education Council issued a call for international human rights groups to protect the Palestinian school children and provide them with adequate conditions to live in.

The Ministry added that the Palestinian children, as all children around the globe, have the right to receive proper education in a safe environment without being subjected to gunfire and shells, as well as different attacks carried by the army.

  9. An elderly woman killed as Israeli soldiers attack her home in Balata refugee camp

An elderly woman, Zakia al-'Amory, from Balata refugee camp in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, died on Thursday morning when the Israeli army attacked her home in order to kidnap her son.

Eyewitnesses reported that troops invaded the home and searched for Al-'Amory's son, leaving her terrified and made her suffer a heart attack. Troops helped her for 15 minutes and called for an ambulance to take her to hospital, but it was too late and she was dead on arrival.

Sources reported that Israeli forces invaded the camp early on Thursday morning searching for wanted Palestinians and left the area with three kidnapped Palestinians and killing the elderly woman.

  10. Zionist rabbis says Torah permits killing Palestinian civilians

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--The association of rabbis for the people and land of Israel headed by extremist rabbi Dov Lior issued on Wednesday a religious ruling legitimizing the shelling of Palestinian civilian gatherings by IOF troops at the pretext of responding to the rocket attacks carried out by the Palestinians.

According to this ruling, the Torah permits the shelling and bombing of Palestinian rocket sources even if there are civilians living there and considers that the Israeli army must sometimes respond to the source of fire immediately without giving any advance warning to the Palestinian civilians.

This ruling also says that if the Palestinian civilians are concerned about their lives, they should stop the Palestinian resistance from firing rockets on Israeli settlements.

In another serious development, the Israel TV channel two revealed on Wednesday that the IOF troops are planning to implement a mass transfer operation against thousands of Palestinian citizens living near the security fence area between Gaza and the Palestinian lands occupied in 1948 as a prelude to bombing it indiscriminately.

Channel two reported that Israeli war minister Ehud Barak tabled to the Israel mini-cabinet a plan to deport thousands of Palestinians from several areas at the pretext that rocket attacks are carried out from them in preparation to destroy entire Palestinian neighborhoods.

In another development, head of the national religious party (Mifdal) Effie Eitam called at the Knesset's rostrum for deporting the Palestinian citizens who went on protests on Tuesday in the Umm Al-Fahm city to condemn the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Eitam described the protesters as traitors and threatened the Arab MPs saying: "One day we will expel you from this place along with everyone demonstrated against Israel."

For his part, Arab MP Jamal Zahalka responded during the session to Eitam saying: "You are a racist, fascist and fanatic," so the Knesset speaker asked Zahalka to leave the session immediately
