Yeah its disconcerting but on the other hand its true that there are a couple of countries in the world where nationalism needs to be tightly controlled, namely Germany and Japan. The PEGIDA rallys seemed at first merely jingoistic but then seem to start to morph into some kind of nationalist movement. Can't blame the polizie for using what might be an actual threat to squash this. It doesn't seem inconceivable that there has been a direct threat to the rallys.
How convenient. The government can ban opposition rallies because of unspecified terrorist threats. Even if it is true, they just handed the islamists a big victory. They shut off debate by threats of violence. The proper response is to have a massive police presence to protect the demonstration.
Lemme get this straight... Islam says, 1. "We will kill you if you don't convert to Islam", and 2. "If you protest against us, we will kill you." Is that about it? How long do we keep "turning the other cheek"?
