Trading volume averaged 3 million contracts per day, compared with 2.4 million contracts per day during September 2006. A total of 57.4 million contracts were traded in September, a 21 percent increase from the 47.3 million traded during the same period last year. Year-to-date, trading volume is averaging 3 million contracts per day, a 30 percent increase from 2.3 million per day in 2006.
