Well every one has gone crazy... How long can the Arab nations that have pegged themselves to the $USD stay with it. These Arab nations are calculating inflation correctly (Saudi at 7%, Qatar 15%, etc), yet USA has only 2.1% (core, headline 4.1%). Pegging to the $USD will NOT WORK if the inflation rate differences between the countries gets very wide. If the USA calculated inflation correctly interest rates would be higher in the US. But not so. So Arab states have a REAL problem and its going to get worse. $USD pegged Arab states have a justified claim.
Most people ( 95%?) don't have a clue what the USD/Crude peg is all about and why it is critical that the peg stay in place for the US economy to stay afloat. It's about exporting inflation overseas. To any and all nations that produce or consume crude oil. So, unless you're living in a tibetan stone age village, you're paying for the american lifestyle. If there were no peg and the USD were not therefore the defacto global reserve currency, tomatoes would cost $20.00/lb at the local american grocery store. In effect, 97% of the worlds population is subsidizing the consumption habits of 3% of the globes population. Unsustainable and will not continue forever.
They only thing I see in the future is a HIGHER 10,20,30 yr USA treasury bond yield. As world inflation will be higher Why and how, those that are pegged to the $USD will realise that they must get interest rates up in the USA using the market rules, to get local rates up. So they will sell there part of there holdings of USA treasuries. I think this is possible, if you know more on pegging of $USD countries and yield curves please elaborate.
An attack on Iran WILL, (read it will be absolute necessary) mean a DRAFT. A draft will cause the youth to rise up and raise all kinds of hell. REMEMBER VIET NAM. Passports are needed to go to Canada these days.........the smart youth that refuse to fight a war for control of the middle east oil supply will need friends to avoid a draft. During NAM you could avoid the draft if in college, married or seek shelter in Canada etc. Youth will be spitting mad if a draft is called. My advise would be to figure a way out and if all else fails join the NAVY ............if drafted you best be prepared to be a ground pounder (infantry etc, ) best to be in Navy or even AirForce if the drasft is your only possible solution. Big Hog, I would agree with you if this were 50 years early. However, I don't think they will institute the draft. I think Israel would commit the majority of ground forces along with some of the US. Troop mobilizaion would move from Iraq to Iran. I also Believe Turky would commit troops. I do believe that a bombing campaing, unlike any thing evey witness, worse than German's bombing of London, would destroy Iran. I also beleive that Tactical Small Arm Nukes would be used. The US Military is by no means stupid nor are those in Charge. They know that IRAN must be destoryed from AIR and SEA. The troops would come into a leveled IRAN. There would be no ground war but will be urban warfare. Israel could wipe out IRAN, IRAQ, SYRIA,EGYPT with one motion. They have a smaller army and less weapons as advance as ours. Could you imagine what the US would do? Don't kid yourself. IRAN will not be IRAQ. It will be leveled regardless of what "World Powers" say.
