Is trading physically easier than it used to be?

I have been in the financial world for 3 years. So I don't know much about it before electronic trading was widely available. I heard some people said, in the 70s-90s traders could only work for few years before they were burnt out. Was trading a physically tough job? What did those traders do after burning out? Does the net really save our health? Is it possible for people to have a much longer trading life?
