It is absolutely possible. Sit down in a quiet room and think about your self being a successful trader for a few minutes. Think about what it will feel like to make profitable seven figure trades, and then think about the things in life you would buy and enjoy as a result of your success. Let your imagination run wild and think about what it would be like no longer being poor and the intense happiness you will feel by having the money and freedom to structure your life however you want. When you've really worked yourself up to the point that you're about to cry from happiness...... NEVER FORGET THAT FEELING...... and do every single thing you can possibly do from that day forward to make that feeling a reality. Make that feeling your life's work. One thing I can promise you is this: If you go into trading thinking that it's just going to be a hobby, or simply some sort of learning experience.... then that's exactly what you're going to end up with. If you go into trading with a clear vision of big success and a burning desire to put everything you have into making that vision a reality on a daily basis, then over time you will eventually accomplish what you set out to achieve. And it makes no difference whatsoever what your capital is or what your starting point is. The only thing that matters is that you have a fire burning in you to achieve greatness and that fire lights you up every single to day to get off your ass and do all the things that most people won't. No fire = No success. That is a universal law of life. So many people in life don't get what they want because they never define WHAT IT IS they deeply want for themselves in the first place. Their fire isn't even a smoldering ember. It's more like ice. So they plod along every day going to some stupid job doing all the shit that they really don't want to be doing, and generally living a lackluster life that ends up passing them by before they know it. So please, do yourself a huge favor, and do what I said above, but only if being a hugely successful trader is really what you desire most. If it's not, then take a minute to dream up what it is YOU REALLY WANT for your life more than anything, and then put everything you have, every single day, into THAT.
"So please, do yourself a huge favor, and do what I said above, but only if being a hugely successful trader is really what you desire most." That is an excellent point. Once you set that big goal you start working towards the things that put you in a position to succeed vs. just get by which in trading doesn't work well at all. its an entirely different mindset.
Yes, i agree, go for it! You do need to bet big to make it with small capital--- but if you are an exceptional individual it is possible to build a stake from a humble start. You need to understand you could lose it all when you start out-- yet the potential is there to make a huge profit. At the same time, its much easier and wiser to create income from a job or business then roll those profits into a trading account. Or as i stated earlier, if trading is your only option, do it the smart way by joining a prop firm unless u have capital and/or a proven successful mentor. As a good prop firm will take years off your learning curve.
imho unfortunately it is not the only thing that matters, there are a lot of other objective and subjective things that matter as well, without which success will not be achieved i agree that to be fired-up is a necessary attribute, but it's not sufficient on its own good reading on the subject: http://www.online-literature.com/london/85/
I never said that being fired up was sufficient on its own. I think I was pretty clear that "doing" every day is required.
ok, then probably your phrase in the previous post: "The only thing that matters is that you have a fire burning in you to achieve greatness" should be re-phrased
It is critical to realize that the financial markets hold the greatest attraction for those least suited for success. This is certainly not saying one can't make it, just keep this in mind should you think that you "love" trading. Just a thought, maybe it will help someone start with the right mindset. One more thing, the biz is crawling with dream merchants-- believe nothing unless success is proven -- particullarly things that "seem" correct or "feel" good. Heck, reading the dream merchant price action folks here even makes me feel good, almost like a Zen like state-- so exercise caution. Peace. Surf
You should love trading if you're good at it. You should love it if you have a defined method that works and that you are able to trade it. You should not love it if you are losing, as then you're simply after the thrill / excitement / gambler high / etc. You should love working hard to perfect your craft, and if that point is reached, you should love executing the f*ck out of it until it disappears or you're so wealthy that it's silly. But even then that last part should make you love it even more.
Do you know anyone who became wealthy as Fk just by and strictly from active trading?? I know I don't. And there is a reason for this.
love is great ! but 300 lbs woman that loves ballet will never be a ballet dancer ... so before everybody is talking about fire and love I would just recommend to get on the scale....
