I didn't start playing hold em until it got too hard to find a stud game. 30 or 40 years ago stud was still king. And then I quickly gravitated to the limit games. I like the game, like the action and the pace, like how easy it is to read the table and the players. The only time I eagerly enter a no limit game is when I am pretty sure I am the strong player and have the strong bankroll. When I find out otherwise, it is an exit signal. But even so I will not let myself get so low that I can't play out a monster hand.
You are never all in with your entire bankroll. If you’re playing 1/2 the buy in is 100bb or $200 therefore your bankroll should be roughly $4000/$5000.
Its is a game of skill with money. Same as poker. It cant be gambling, as there are people who turned nothing into fortunes day in and out of the markets.
Funny. I made money from poker. I prefer poker actually. Maybe you only play tournaments exclusively which of course luck will play a big role. I play live cash games mainly and its too easy to make money. There will always be some fishes in these games or people tilting and going crazy with their money.
Are you saying that poker is not gambling? If you can prove that poker is not gambling, then I will concede that trading is not gambling. However I believe the law in every state of the U.S. most definitely and clearly categorizes poker as gambling. The IRS as well. The various gaming commissions in those states with legalized gambling, also, I would venture to say. Skill doesn't make it not gambling. The element of chance in the turn of the cards is still present, and money changes hand from loser to winner.
