  2. And why would that be the case? You voiced your disagreement. Fair enough. But I miss the rational.

I built a 16 core single CPU (threadripper), 128gb memory, 2x Titan V compute cards, multiple SSD and physical disks machine. I could have never found a machine with the exact specs that I need as pre-built or even configurable. At least not unless I paid a huge premium. Again, if you know what you need and it's not offered at reasonable price points in pre-built or configurable version then there hardly is a way around building myself. Why not Xeon? I ran on a dual Xeon E2690 setup before and for many tasks the CPUs were simply too slow. I use the machine as home server to compute most all of my DNN models, it serves as Nas, runs multiple server services, virtual machines and hardly breaks a sweat unless under heavy load. It generally runs cool at around 3% load. The server and my workstations are connected via 10gbit switch and nics. I did not build my pc for thrill but out of necessity.

  3. Does that mean, "you don't get the rationale?"

  4. It means you did not even get the point.because you did not read my post till the end. Try again please. And just because you don't see use cases does not make everyone else stupid who does. Sometimes looking above your silo helps to actually recognize that we don't know everything or think of everything at all times. But hey, if you choose to be condescending be my guest, I have an incredibly thick skin.

  6. Apparently. You appear to be oblivious to fact.

  7. I don't agree with @Scataphagos attidude, he seems to have some issues with having to be right all the time. But on video cards he is correct. You can plug as many video cards and as powerful video cards as you please into any modern computer and as many PCIe slots as you have available. You can beyond that connect more 4k displays via USB-HDMI or USB-DP adapter. Driving monitors is not a function of the CPU or general computer resources but of the graphics cards.

  8. I
You got an issue with me? Show me where I've been wrong, and I'll admit to it.

    Otherwise, UP YOURS, SMARTASS!!

My "attitude" is about those who post who "don't know they ass from a hole in the ground", yet pontificatE as though they do. A noob seeking constructive information is not served by BS.

  9. What are you even talking about? If you can't handle a simple exchange perhaps it's time for a graceful exit? Not sure what your issue is. Are you a misanthropist? Issues with all humans? Anyway, I appreciate your point re pre-configured/refurbished workstations, unless one has a special need they are a solid choice for trading related tasks

Have a happy weekend and don't forget to smile.

  10. Well other than your workstation advice, your insistence on never building oneself is similar BS. So, speak for yourself mate.
