Is this the most volatile market ever? I think so.

Hey boys, walking stereotype asking us to come up with something new. What do you boys all think? I say, why mess with a good thing? What say my boys?

  6. This might be the longest sustained bout of realized volatility in S&P 500 we've see since the 80s.

  8. On some metrics (like de-jumped realized vol) this is more intense. GFC was much more event driven, while this is a "proper" sustained realization.

While the sell off was faster than those in the past, it is not unexpected with the sharp rise in program trading.

Bull markets routinely bounce back to make dazzling new highs after corrections of 10-20%. Each time when in a deep correction the bewildered herd becomes bearish.

The herd is always wrong at the big turns. Less than half of the declines of up to 20% lead into a bear market, only time will tell.

Because I am a nimble long/short trader it does not matter to me which direction the market goes in as long as it is not flatline for very long.
