How much will those batteries cost to replace when they go bad in five-seven years? It's not like you can just take a wrench to them to fix them.
minimal...5% to 160,000 miles...lasts 500,000 to well over 1mm with ease so therefore that often posted remark is BS , and ignorant. https://www.engadget.com/2018/04/16/tesla-battery-packs-live-longer/ i read the negative news and also this news. the guys who talk about battery fires don't read the stats on ICE fire frequency. https://www.businessinsider.com/17-cars-catch-on-fire-every-hour-in-the-us-2013-11
The 787s were grounded for the battery issue. It just sux that all the Li-Ion and Li-Hydride batteries keep catching fire and explode. Doesn't happen as often with petrol. Guys, electricity is just not there yet.
Wasn't that about 5-6 years ago? Also both battery and cooling technology has improved quite a bit since then to my understanding.
I haven't been on the dyno yet. The guy that built is says that it should do 500 easily. AVO 450 (called something else now); injectors; closed-deck bottom end; heads; ProcessWest top-mount; PPG dogbox; 6-puck ceramic clutch (CM, Exedy, etc). Turbosmart e-Boost2. IAG short block: https://www.iagperformance.com/IAG-Stage-4-Extreme-EJ25-2-5L-Short-Block-WRX-STI-p/iag-eng-1453.htm I modded knowing that I would blow the warranty. The car hasn't been to the dealer, ever.
A local racer had the PPG and the sound is incredible. I only listen to Spotify when I am on the freeway. Rowing the gearbox in traffic sounds like you're running an F1 car. I wasn't going to mod the car, but once I did the PPG it made sense to go all-out. The modded 6MT was $18K, so it's not really practical and there is a learning curve, but it can handle 1K HP. My was pre-built and I believe it's a 2017 trans, but here's the kit. I got a discount on the build due to my nearly new core: https://www.rallispec.com/gea_dog_ppg-su6seq.html
Yeah, you had to go larger on fuel system and turbo to get there. IAG is the way to go, the stage 4 extreme block is built to hold much more than 500 I think, so that should be fine. My car isn't going to the dealer either, I can do pretty much anything that needs to be done myself all the way down to building a short block, but honestly I'd just buy one from IAG anyway. I just want to keep it somewhat reliable for now, but eventually I'll go all out. The PPG dogbox is interesting, you can flat foot shift on that, or you're still using the clutch? Still daily driving it no problems?
