I do this trip (1,300 km) average 22 times a year. I travel between my native country and the country where I live. I need my car in both countries as I take a lot of stuff with me. So taking a plane is no solution. My point of view in the EV discussion is based on my needs. I also have a heavy right foot; I cannot drive at 80mph, I drive in Germany at 180-200 kmh. If I would do that with a Tesla I use 0.5 kwh per kilometer, so I would have to recharge every 200 kilometers (so 6-7 times).
I have an American muscle car (surprisingly good MPG) and when I need to do a trip, I rent a car. So even though I have a ICE, I still rent. Point is that your argument does not hold water for 80% of the target population (if you assume that TSLA can get their costs down.) It may just be that someone with experience with consumer manufacturing will come in to make it possible to compete with ICEs who have had decades to improve. I don't think that's a "go to zero" thesis. Maybe niche for a long time, but all Tesla needs to do is survive and avoid company ending decisions. Tweeting: not company ending Needing to borrow money to finance growth: not company ending Being wrong that people will use EVs vs ICE: company ending
Honestly I had a little bit of range anxiety when I first got it, but that quickly subsided after a few trips to the bay area. Echoing what you said, the cars will literally take you to charging stations, which are usually located at shopping areas or rest stops. Just charge while you're grabbing a bite to eat, not a big deal.
If that would happen I would buy an EV. I am not against EV's, I just say they are not at the level they should be to compete. I bet more on the German or Chinese EV's. They will solve better and faster the actual problems then Tesla. Tesla was a pioneer, that gave them the advantage that they could sell easily as there was no competition (king in the land of the blind). That will now quickly change, and Tesla will feel that very hard. This is what I mean with very hard: https://seekingalpha.com/article/42...fall-82-percent-norway-76-percent-netherlands Summary April is off to a horrible start for Tesla in the countries in Europe where we get daily sales (registration) data: Norway and The Netherlands. Compared to March, the daily sales rate in Norway in April thus far is down 82%, and in The Netherlands it’s down 76%. For the more expensive and higher-margin Model S and X, Tesla is losing market share to Audi and Jaguar’s electric cars in the most dramatic of ways. Audi eTron and Jaguar i-Pace are outselling Tesla Model X and S combined by a factor of 5.7 to 1 in Norway, and 9.7 to 1 in The Netherlands. Tesla usually makes up for an April shortfall in the last month of the quarter, but this is a very deep hole from which Tesla now has to dig.
this guy is basing his telsa thesis on his personal hoped for lifestyle. its surreal. he overlooks the entire industry is converting. i would get the other side maybe a little better if this was not occurring. you cannot even debate with someone only thinking of "their" lifestyle requirements
He may be right or wrong on Tesla. I know that I wouldn't bet the farm on Tesla, but I probably would spread out my bets to people who will supply EV manufacturers. Who supplies Tesla any meaningful technology???!!! No-fucking-body... I really think that Tesla vs industry is like Apple vs PC. PC was huge because everyone could touch everyone else's private parts. Apple became huge because of the exact opposite. There is room for both.

Everyone knows Tesla is done... Why are you arguing with others, you aren't being rational ? EV's are the future, just not tesla, new German EV's are insane, even American EV's like F150's and Mustangs will crush Felon's shit made quality... Mustang Electric is boss Here is the EQC 2020, Insane Benzo EV available end 2019 I believe, interior is money
