Is this speed enough?

Whether the latency time is good or bad depends on where you are and where you were linking to for the test and also how many hops that involved.

  2. Your setup is plenty fast but it is a good idea to have two quote sources, such as IB and QCharts/eSig, so you can compare and not try to put in a trade on a lagging quote. It is not the speed of the dsl but rather delays on the route and server issues with the broker and data provider.

Some more info about the speed test. Use SBC/yahoo. Did a latency test using dslreports.com.

The following is the url to the latency test:
    http://www.dslreports.com/quality/nil/992464

Do not understand the terms "ping-pong" ?? mentioned in the latency test. Oh well--it sys it passed the test.

Bsically the latency test yielded the following results:
0% loss latency 36.4ms. Speed tests indicated 651/137 kbps.

I hear using broadband with a cable modem one can get 1500K download with 256K upload.

Based on the postings I should be ok to trade. Just need to set up an account with IB.
    Tks
