Its cute that you say you are addressing my innermost anything HIstory shows that when systems break down without a viable replacement, it's often the most vulnerable who pay the highest price. So, while the current system may be flawed, it's more about minimizing harm for society as a whole than protecting my own standard of living. I will be OK as can be under any change up to and including nuclear war because I own a swanky fallout shelter (inherited, I'm not mad). Time passes and things change, usually for the better. We are on the verge of creating AI God, genetics are to become a lifestyle choice which makes all the racists a bit dumb. Post scarcity is afoot but stepping back into authoratarianism is going to delay it.
