Some have already relocated...moved from the United States to Russia for various reasons although they do not list "politics" as a reason.

...MAGA voters have explained why they turned their backs on the US for a new life in Russia, claiming the former communist state is a, 'positive vision of 1950s America'. Conservative men have cited the country's Christian values, beautiful women and stunning scenery as reasons behind their move...

Also, Russia is helping them to move by building "migrant villages" for conservative Americans and conservative Canadians that believe in the MAGA ideology.

...Russia is pining to build on its budding relationship with American conservatives—literally.

Amid Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, and the American Republican Party splitting on its support for the defending nation, Russian authorities apparently are launching construction of a special village outside Moscow dedicated to conservative-minded Americans and Canadians...

I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are posting here at Elitetrader.com while bashing other members as foreigners.

Also, would Russians be offended by these MAGA migrant Americans which results in Russians creating rumors that the conservative Americans / conservative Canadians are eating their dogs, cats, and other pets? :p

This sounds like we should become fascists to stop fascists. That is, US interventionism messed these places up, now let's intervene some more?!? And, the irony of the circular logic strikes me as quite hypocritical. As they say... careful what you wish for.

But, if you want to strap yourself up and go to Nicaragua to do "God's work", I won't stop you. Just don't expect me to fund or follow you. If we're going to be spending money we don't have anyway, I'd rather spend it here at home.

That you feel this way is truly frightening. How quickly we forget "vibes", "joy" and bipartisan compromise...

    You seems confused.

Look, I was 16 when I got my first car which was paid for by work I did and it was a 911, so if you think I don't understand marginal or fractional wealth...

Trump is trying to bring overt authoratarianism back to the USA and none too subtle about it.

She doesn't really have a choice.

Her economic plan is, as she said, raise and lower taxes at the same time. And, if she answers "yes" to "are you better now than four years ago" no one will believe it.

So... the answer to all these questions must be: "forget everything you already know about me, I grew up middle class".

IDK what your personal history has to do with anything Tux. In spite of being pretentious, I'm sure you're a decent person anyway; whatever kind of car you've got ;)

I think the reason we disagree is that I just don't take either of them, Trump nor Kamala, at their word. Trump won't implement "mass deportations", it's just not possible. Kamala isn't going to miraculously save the less fortunate. Again, it's just not possible. They're both lying through their teeth to get power for themselves.

So, if you will, what I see is Trump running on fear and Kamala running on hope. I guess I'm just the type of person who prefers dealing with an unfounded fear than a hope which goes unfulfilled. That's just me though.

But whoever wins, in four years, I'd bet, the vast majority of people won't be affected by anything except their own behavior.

Put it this way, @spy: I understand the value of wealth and what it takes to earn it. I get that I only have one dick and that material things can be shallow, but money is concentrated time and power.

Wealth disparity, however, may be far less of an issue than the dangers posed by increasing authoritarianism. Maintaining the pretense of democracy and freedom acts as a necessary mechanism to balance societal forces, even though those freedoms may be more limited than they appear.

When things go full Trump and advancement depends on your place in the uniparty, people on the outside will resist violently. On the other hand, when people believe they have a stake in the system, they tend to get along much better.

It’s a grim tradeoff: accepting limited, possibly illusory freedoms to avoid something worse, an entirely repressive, overt authoritarian regime.

We had this in the US South and it got predictably stagnant.

Out of curiosity... is it fair to say you'd rather keep a charade going to maintain your present standard of living, instead of moving toward a more authentic future at the risk of an unknown personal outcome?

Bear in mind, I'm addressing your inmost thoughts with the underlined words. Philosophically there is no way you can speak for anyone else.

Edit: I should say election aside.
