Is this Jeff Bezos' jump-the-shark moment?

  1. You don't buy The Post or The Times to express your views. You buy one of them because they are where the establishment expresses their views and you can tilt the conversation -- within bounds -- the way you want/need it to go.

A steal at the price. It's only the price of two impressionist paintings, for God's sake. Or eight mediocre paintings. It's the damn Post. Even if it is history in 20 years -- and it might be -- the value over the term is incredible. Ten weeks ago he was just another billionaire.

Lots of admiration for Bezos, huh. Let's see what you're all saying when the price of AMZN returns to 2002 levels :)

No, but I am indirectly 'short the market' (i.e. long vol) by being long a systematic trend following system.

I was just focussing on AMZN as a historically frothy stock.

  6. Do those 2002 levels leave him on public assistance? It is an overpriced stock but as a company they are so difficult to compete with in a bull market it can stay overpriced for a long time.

But again, even at a 90% decline in the price of the stock, he is a very wealthy man. If he needs the money and turns around and sells The Post for $100 million the $150 million loss won't even be noticed during the blood bath.

I prefer to manage risk rather than gamble.
