Is there anything to stop a capitulation Tuesday?

My 2c is:

Market capitulations happen very infreqeuntly. 1-2x a decade.

People expect them happen far more frequently maybe 100-200 times a decade.

I'll take those odds every time. So there is no doubt when it happens I will definiitely be on the wrong side.

The stuff I just put on is:

Long Puts on FRE/FNM, ES
Long Calls on Gold, Yen, Crude Oil

 

Eurostoxx50 futures down 3.5% for the day. Down 30% YTD.

I sense a whiff of panic in the air.

 

those FRE and FNM puts should do well today following today's WSJ story

 

Capitulation? My sense is that we are not anywhere near.

Maybe a swing low a few percent lower within a week or so... but that won't be any capitulation.
