Is there any empirical study available about the profitability of option sellers vs option buyers?

I don't think the markets much care what you like or dislike.

 

Well, that's the way insurance works...you pay a relatively small premium for that security.
If you want more aggressive payouts, then consider buying options instead of selling them.
