The way our Government is giving away money I don't see much hope for the Canadian Peso in the near future.

Not sure we are any more stable; smaller for sure but pretty well have the same problems.

That said I'm happy and proud to be Canadian. Wouldn't live anywhere else, except in the winter :)

    I bought 100 shares of EWC on 6/19/20 at $25.69. I'm up $127. this weekend. I did a covered call on this...At $27. I got $1.55 ($155. for the option)...Jan 21. Also a 2.5% dividend. Nothing to write home about...But steady income for now.

Also zdreg nailed it on why to invest there...

Canada does not have the same problems.

Canada does not have race problems not even close to the level in the US.
    Canada is accepting of refugees.
Canada does not have a drug problem.
Canada does not have a seemingly permanent underclass of Blacks and Latinos.
Canada has a better education system.
Canada does not have a prison industry
Canada does not have a bunch of anarchists rioting and trying to take over the country.

Tell that to the non white population of Canada.
    I'll give you that one
BC had more fentanyl related deaths than Covid deaths.
We have Indigenous and other minorities. Same problem smaller scale
    Based on what criteria?
Tell that to the guys who are locked up.
I'll have to admit we are a much less violent society. I think it's because the winters are too harsh.
Instead of shooting those we disagree with we write them a strongly worded letter.

I'll admit we have a great Country. But we do have problems the same as everywhere else. We are greatly influenced by what the US does.

The US having 10 times the population the problems seem bigger.

It shows how well BC is handling Covid.
Anyway fentanyl deaths heard is the result of life style choice. It is good for society.

"Canada has a better education system.
    Based on what criteria?"
    INTERNATIONAL RANKINGS
Not to brag or anything, but we’re pretty pleased with Canada’s performance on international literacy, math and science tests. Case in point: on the most recent Programme for International Assessment (PISA) tests administered by the OECD, Canada ranked 4th overall globally among OECD countries - well above the U.S., who were way back at 31st. Game, set and (academic) match: the Great White North.

In Canada there are 40k Prisoners
In the US there are 2,2M prisoners
Population of US about 10X Canada
Imprison rate in US, therefore 5X Canada.

Trends change. Little known fact there was a 7 year period ending in I believe 2010 or 2011 that the TSX outperformed the SPX. Since then not very good. Part of the reason is the dead weight that was the Canadian energy sector. Another was the cycle in mining; the Canadian banks did fine but it's not as get rich quick scheme like IT can be.

I am seeing some people forecast a similar run now. Canadians have an issue since Cdn$/US$ went to 69-72 cents again it looked like a bottom and will likely go back up to 80 plus cents in my opinion. We can buy hedged etfs on US markets to work around that.

My opinion, since March Canadian market has been a better value play for those who don't want to risk a meltdown in US listed IT stocks.
