Is there a way to put a "Ignore" or "Block" Trolls from our Posts?

Let's put it this way: if I'm going to risk information manipulation I'd rather it be through dealing with the tyranny of the majority rather than the tyranny of the minority.

In short allow the reader to do the filtering not the writer filtering for the reader.

i960 ...if someone starts a thread about something that interests them then you have an opportunity to participate in a discussion with him and others he deems as having like minded interests. If someone annoys a thread starter the thread starter is free to block that user just like you were and are free to start threads discussing the same topic and invite whoever you want.

I think that's our fundamental disagreement here. With the exception of journal threads, the thread starter does not *own* the thread. They started the thread and that's all. The community owns it from that point on.

Now when it comes to journals that's very individual focused and an area where I do believe individuals should be able to control their own threads.

I have another case study where a member with a high percentage of likes stopped posting due to the old rules which required him to accept users he found disruptive. The old community rules offered too much freedom to his detractors rather than favoring the desires of prolific posters to be free from the opinions of non-like minded individuals. In these cases where the damage is already done we can read what exists but it's unlikely we can compel them to make further contributions.

The rule changes resolve all this and are sufficient to attract and keep prolific posters in the future. The detractors don't have any place better to go so they'll stay also but they'll have to trade their pet peeves for real concerns because it's unlikely anyone will listen to anything but valid complaints in the future.

  5. Most ridiculous post of the week. Then why do you post on a public forum? Keep your paper trades for yourself if you afraid someone will imitate your virtual performance. Idiotic post.

  6. This would be a disaster for you then. You would be able to participate in 4-5 threads among your TA buddies...everyone else would kick your ass for lack of valuable contribution

  7. Hilarious loooool. You were reprimanded and had to publicly apologize for foul language WHILE bitching about others. You got ripped off because someone you wanted to post does not post anymore? How about getting a life and generate ideas on your own instead of relying on others to do your work?

  9. How come those you call "trolls" have a way higher "like" count than yours and a higher post/like ratio than 1% while you claim 99% of their content is garbage? Something does not add up here...

  10. This is utter bullshit. The only reason so much BS is posted on this site is because of an increasing number of lowly educated and lazy people who pretend make claims they have zero factual backup for. Look at all those pathetic TA threads. It's full of pest and lowlifes who attack everyone who asks them for backing up their wild TA claims with facts. This is why thus site is degenerating. Before when someone put up a claim then he supported it with a thread of live calls. Today any idiot can claim "moon phases work as TA entry methods because I say so".
