Just thinking that a cheap way would be to save screenshots every n seconds. Better than a video. The video might have a poor resolution and could be difficult to navigate. Assuming that you are on Windows: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/automatically-take-screenshots-at-regular-intervals Once you load the first image to replay, subsequent images in the folder will be available with arrow keys. The image will have a timestamp. You can replay everything just hitting right and left. Also a small script in Python could do the trick to save screenshots.
I see. Thanks. In one method, I do very quick scalping, getting in and out following the tape and tick by tick, L2 is not very useful, is it?
Good point. When i traded stocks using L2 they used to let me do invisible orders, I wonder if they still have those.
calleed reserve or icebergg orders where you have an order for like 20k and you only show 200 or something and then it just refreshses, and yes I still use these orders, and pay attention to where these orders are being filled at all the time. Legitimate sellers or buyers don't want to show their size because people will step in front of them, reserve orders are always real buyers or sellers.
I use the L2 as a part of my trading every day, problem is I cant just watch 20 L2's all day I usually only have it up on the stock im most focused on, where I have a position. The problem with level 2 is that people constantly throw up fake bids or offers inorder to push the stock a certain way, then they pull the second the stock starts putting pressure on their order, so you cant specifically trade off an L2 but its another piece of the puzzle.
LOL, ALUR was exactly the stock the i wanted to go rewatch L2 data on too, I played it as well haha sold it at the highs at like 8.50 in the premarket only to watch it go another 12 dollars, but people were throwing all kinds of fake buys and sells on it all day so it was hard to tell what was legitimate. I wanted to replay it in the 8.50 area where it ended up breaking out in the premarket and went another 12 dollars. Low float biotech is an obvious sign that it can happen, but the news did not seem like it was enough to do that, it was just a manucatured move, shorts got owned in the premarket, and then there is no shares to short once it hits 20 bucks a share. FWIW the move started out with Obesity headlines, NVO had a monster move up on earnings, then ALUR went and then as soon as ALUR was at 20, suddenly buyers would hit any headline obesity related, and then EVAX started going, it was all a common theme, started with NVO, and then moved back into the small caps. Trying to replay that move to see if there is anything I could have seen on it where I should have known,
I don’t know what the LL2 could offer you over a 1 minute or less chart because of the manipulation. I use to be the biggest fan of LL2 data since 1990s and now with algo sweeps, dark pools, internalization and off-exchange volume the big prints are not showing up like they use to. I tried posting from Bloomberg but this will work as well.
Yeah I'm starting to notice that, there was alot of b.s. back in 2020 when I stopped day trading to go to school but NOW it's almost entirely bullshit..... one og premarrket scans goes on trades/minute but that is almost all just bots and bullshit now too. I'm trying to play it back to see where legitimate size was being filled, although the people manipulating these moves are probably just hitting themselves now too, so it might be useless
