Is there a limit type order that takes into account ex-dividends?

How about checking last time ex div was done? If you watching like 100 different companies, not hard to monitor but if more maybe this site would help.

I just don't think it wise to place orders night before, so much can happen elsewhere and one could be entering way too high on open.

To make this clear for anyone visiting in the future, TD Ameritrade specifically states:

Open buy-limit, sell-stop, and sell-stop-limit orders are automatically adjusted for the dividend to the nearest penny, unless you specify DNR (do-not-reduce) when the order is placed.

IB may or may not adjust certain orders, while cancelling others.
It may be best to check with your broker.
