For those who dont want to blow $1,500 a month. Reuters?I'm mainly interest in real time market data for all kinds of obscure markets and realtime news
Thompson Financial ~$800/month but IMHO bloomberg is worth every penny of the $1,800/month (plus add-ons & exchange feeds) it costs
There's a bunch of products from Thomson Reuters: Reuters 3000 Xtra (http://thomsonreuters.com/products_...ducts/equities_derivatives/americas/3000_xtra) plus also Dealing on Reuters (http://thomsonreuters.com/products_..._products/foreign_exchange/forward_fx/dealing) for starters. :T
Up Any suggestions? What about Interactive Brokers "IBIS Research Platform" bundle?! Dow Jones Global Market News USD199.00 Dow Jones News Service 2 USD115.00 http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/p.php?f=marketData&ib_entity=uk Thanks
Metastock quotecenter. USD135/month. Institutional platform at retail price. (was Bridge platform). http://www.equis.com/products/realtime/quotecenter/?overview Global data. If you just want US data plenty of others.
How is that cheaper? Both Factset and Capital IQ cost about the same as a Bloomberg Terminal. They also have a requirement of a certain number of accounts, as far as I know.
IIRC thomson (reuters) seems cheaper but is about the same as bbg once you get the same packages as bbg. even then nothing compares to bbg.
Its gonna be hard to find a program that handles everything Bloomberg terminal does for you. You may be able to find specific functions in Bloomberg online for free. For example I consider http://eqsift.com/ to be a good alternative to Bloomberg's EQS function.
