Is the West in terminal decline?

  1. Two observations

    I. Capitalism is inherently flawed

Given – A profit maximizing firm will endeavor to reduce fixed and variable cost.

Marx was right. Capitalism contains the seeds of its own destruction. Larger and larger economies of scale continuously drive down fixed costs and reduce the number of workers needed. The process continues until the number of unemployed reaches a critical mass that induces change. This process has been accelerated by the availability of super cheap outsourcing that also drives down variable cost.

    II. Definite purpose

The US in particular has no definite purpose. There are no definite goals to unify a diverse group. Consumption in and of itself can not be the definite purpose of a sustainable enterprise.

  3. This is the most clear, true and effective statement I've heard ina while. Consumption and money making for the sake of money itself, is destructive.
