The new approach with preventing guys switching on and off full ignore is much better. It does not mean you have to ignore them just you can choose "show ignored posts" when you have energy for them.

I have a huge number on it now. The snag is people get drawn into fire fighting stupid and similar minds working to develop an idea, is very underdeveloped.

  3. There is conventional boxing and then there is bare knuckle boxing. Both have rules, but one is messier for sure. Political threads are bare knuckle and one should be ready for that, but taking it too personally and then coming back with threats probably means you need a break from this place. Chill a bit and come back.
Far as Baron making the rules. His playhouse, his rules, simple as that.

Baron does a great job of moderating this forum.

he balances “free speech” with reasonableness.

A lot of the time the dynamic that leads to frustration is less boxing and more teaching the basic concepts of politics they should already know, and so a bit like "teaching Joey French".

"C'est un narcissique" Bla bla blu? "c'est du fascisme" blue bof bla!

'This is narcissism,' and they reply with nonsense. You point out something as fascist, and they respond with gibberish. Eventually people snap.

One realizes that many on the right lack the foundational understanding of things the center and left assume are common knowledge, from 1984 to classic children's tales which arm us with much foreknowledge of how to identify dangerous people.

Cannons firing over heads is a daily occurrence, sometimes right to left too.

You've got some valid points, so I edited the description to be more clear.

Though.. as it is worded now it just means that some will try to weaponize name-calling and derogatory insults?

In recent years, there has been a rise in the strategic use of language. Some individuals and groups/bots employ subtle tactics to provoke, insult, and silence others. This can involve using coded language, exploiting sensitive topics, or shifting blame to avoid accountability. When called as trolls or thick, several will likely go straight to admin.

I'd have it as rarely moderated or similar.

Mind you if Buy1 and others blurting out "Marxists" and say Wildchild, who is likely a chronic incel, trying to use claims that liberals who are parents only want to murder babies, every time he needed attention, counted as insults/ derogatory.. That might be good :)

  10. I've often wondered the same thing.

Say one thing, do something different!

Usually the result of no logical or rational thought.
