Is the market really like this?

  1. One time I saw a post by a guy on a chat board who posted a wild made-up story about how he had met someone who could move the market, and who gave him secrets. He posted one of the "secret" ticker symbols in order to pump the stock for his own account.

    A sucker born every day...

The SEC wil be on to you soon, Son :(

Well I must say, if that guy really is legit and making money, he doesnt have much care for money. I know I would be pissed working hard to earn money in the markets just to piss 15K straight gambling, as oppsed to educated gambling...

    Agreed.

I was taking a look at the top Nasdaq $ dollar gainers last night for the trading day of June 21, one of the top ones on the list went from $2 to $20 within a single day, millions of shares traded on a stock that historically has pretty much zero volume. I didn't double check to see if there was a news release, but it was pretty clearly a pump play - run up some illiquid stock then sell later in the day as other traders jump on the bandwagon.

All I know is I made some money and had some sushi :) Why is it so unbelievable? I gave you the ticker and still climbed. I told you I sold the position and had no care whether it went up or down and most of you guys still think I am pump and dump. All I am is a casino dealer who met a guy that made me some money. I am someone who wants to get into day-trading so I can quit my job. I know this isn't the way to do it but I find it unbelieveable on how someone can sit back and say this is as good as a guarantee as you can get in the market. It was all the way this guy said it. Like he was in control of the number and whether it would go up and down. I found it fascinating how a stock can climb up like 2 out of the 3 tips he gave me. The other one he gave was at 2.10 and traded at 5 dollars yesterday. All this in a week and a half. I can't get a grip on the question I want to ask about this but I find it unbelieveable on how a stock can move like the one I gave on such little volume. INTC can't even get to 30 and I traded 2 stocks that doubled in price in 4 days on volume that would make hedge funds laugh on how little its traded. Yesterday the other stock I made money on opened at 4, went to 5.25 and closed back at 4 on 200k shares for the day. I just don't understand how a stock can move like that on such low volume. Anyone kind enough to answer the question, I am all ears. If you doubt who I am.... Well all I can say is send a PM and I'll let you know where my day job is. My goal is to sit here on my computer all day like you guys and thought I had a interesting story to share about a great week I had. If I tell you guys the sun will rise in the east and set in the west tomorrow will you think I am full of crap about that also? Oh well. Hydro.... thanks for sticking up for me :) Sushi was great though and going to Todai on friday. Its my birthday and they let birthday boys eat for free. ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI :) yummmmmm

  5. I once saw a study, that only 3% of those that regularly included more than 4 sentences in a paragraph ever made a dime in the markets.

    UCLA I think.

So do u intentionally make small posts so your not in that 97% that don't or do you acually make money? I'll be willing to send you trade confirmations if you really want to go that far.

  7. Watch the movie "Boiler Room" to understand better how the penny stock pump & dump works.
Stocks can easily run on absolutely minimal volume on any exchange. If it is inactive, there are few limit orders and hence someone can just rip through them creating activity.
You need to find that guy and get some more stock tips.

this is "curiouser" and "curiouser". Now this implicitly once in a life time meeting which prompted a question about how the markets really work has turned into a systematic way to make money for casino employees on a regular basis.
