Jack, Thanks. http://www.velocityfutures.com/Fix_platform.html This sounds like a perfect solution set for ATS guys around. Could you offer us the fee structure of the server colocation deal? Regards,
The fees for colocation are not set yet. We are still working on posting a complete fee schedule. I can say that if you are doing more than 10,000/month it will probably be free. If no volume, or just data collection or development, probably be somewhere about $600/month for 1U of space. Jay
QuantDeveloper.Anton, Can I ask about the software here? I have taken a look at the DemoApp- standalone VS.net solution. It's almost done for a simple trading platfrom, but I don't see Account/Risk tab there. Is there any specific reason you didn't include that tab in the DemoApp? Another question is that the mainform GUI parts are not exported from the QD in some way, correct? I understand that the frontend GUI such as spreadsheet tab or charts cannot exported from QD to the VS.net C# standalone application, and if desired so, the sourcecode license is required to take over the GUI in the canned app. Actually, it's not problem since the DemoApp code is very straightforward with VS.net, but I just wonder how GUI parts of QD is related to VS.net GUI form. The bottom line is if a user want the GUI used in QD migrated to original VS.net app, buy the source code, right? Please advise. Thanks.
You can rent a dedicated server to run whatever program you want for about $99/month. I think it would be a good setup for ATS since it usually has more reliable connection than your DSL/Cable at home.
Right, actually, I have thought that for a long time now. One of the candidate was Planet-ServerMatrix, but since it has been so popular, most of the popular lines are sold.
I think the main difference is that if you purchase hosting at TT/VF/Genesis hosting facilities, you are entitled in a performance guarantee contract, i.e. can sleep well and be sure that your hardware/software is running and connected to trading gateways 7/24.
Right. The best solution should be TT NET, and should be expensive. In terms of VF facility, I suppose they don't actually run their own datacenter, but outsource somewhere. If so, there should be no difference to rent a dedicated server by myself. I'm not sure about this, but 600USD or 100USD, the extra 500 would gurantee some factor well as you mention. By the way, Anton, is there any comments on what I asked above- QD GUI and account issue of the demoapp.
Hi, the very purpose of this simple demo application is to show how to build a generic stand alone application using SQ framework and MSVS (i.e. how to initialize the framework, open/close data server, shutdown the framework correctly and so on) and how to develop a GUI based application with SQ framework and standard set of .NET GUI components (QD uses docking library to bring MSVS IDE look and feel to users). Indeed you can reuse QD native GUI components but in this case the demo application would consist of a couple of lines - basically Application.Run(QDMainForm); This is not what you want to see in the demo, right ? Although the demo application shows how to build nearly a complete trading fron-end, we have not transferred all QD functionalities to this application. You can take QD TT FIX Provider component, OrderBook and Execution component and build an application similar to TT MD Trader in a couple of hours. (Don't forget to ask TT for a license though ). You just subscribe to Portfolio and Portfolio.Account events in a form to get Account/Risk tab ala QD Portfolio Manager form. I think it would be interesting to make another standalone demo application that will show how to build a canned ATS (simple breakout system or something) with a GUI interface. The source code is usually the best solution if you want to develop custom applications or your own trading infrastructure with QD. You can basically just take QD GUI code and change it to fit your needs or copypaste from QD code to your own application code Also, the source code, although being more expensive than QD binary license, is time and cost cutting solution at the end of the day. Check out http://www.serverpronto.com. They have very reasonable prices, but customer service is kinda unresponsive.
