Is religion the origin of civilization?

    um yeah ok, that fits. Why wouldn't a hippy and a religion mix , not assume black magic as an answer for just about everything.

  3. no he believes it. you have actually spotted a real earth is 6000 years old man lived with dinosaurs creationist. its quite a find. we are privilaged to have one of those nutcases on et to play around with because they are almost extinct in the real educated world.

  4. I think science and religion start with the same question - "Why?".

    I also think both science and religion become dogma if they believe they have the definitive answer that precludes all others. For scientists, that would mean the death of science. For the religious, it means they are claiming to be at the same level of knowledge/understanding as their God (blasphemy if I recall correctly) .

  5. Not as close to extinction as you think. Less that 40% of Americans believe in evolution. 80% believe in angels and that god intervenes in their life. Lots of these people are 'educated'.
