Is religion the origin of civilization?

  1. No one know if that is temple for worship to the god. He assume that because only no evidence of people living in there, just the place to build and write on the stone.
Maybe that is ancient people library? They draw on the stone what they see, fox, vultures, scorpions.

  2. Great question! Since the earth is only 13,000 years old (right?), it's quite likely that those who built the temple were getting chased around by T-Rex in their spare time.

  4. This is what happens when people watch hollywood movies like jurassic park.

I think people were "chased around by dinosaurs" as much as people today are chased around by rhinos, lions and elephants. Its very logical to assume that dinosaurs acted like every other animal on this planet. When they see a group of humans, they rarely bother them. Its also a safe bet that humans stayed pretty far away from known dinosaur feeding grounds and trails. I mean most people dont live near lions dens today or elephants trails, right? How many of you have ever seen a wild rhino, elephant or lion? Probably back then it was just as rare to see a dinosaur out in the open. You really dont see wild animals unless you are going out looking for them.

  5. just wow. god help the ignorant and gullible because they sure need it. j/k

a thinking person might ask himself. if dinosaurs and humans coexisted there must be at least one example of human and dinosaur bones being found in the same strata of the earth. can you find one example?

this would seem especially easy to find because most creationists believe the global flood killed everything on earth 6000 years ago. there should be piles of dinosaur and human bones comingled in runoff areas. can you find one example of this?

and you wonder why creationists are laughed at.

  6. Religion is in the genes. Without it holding the early Klan's together civilization never would have gotten started.

  7. You can 'think' dinosaurs and humans existed together but that is the difference between religion and science: science requires EVIDENCE.

In addition to the comment by Vehn, why do we see representations of lions, snakes, rhinos, etc but NEVER a Brontasaurus. The reason, ancient people never saw nor knew about dinosaurs.

Believe whatever religious beliefs you want but and feel free to spread these beliefs around: it makes it much easier to make a case for reason.

  8. it's beyond dispute that the first civilizations were theocracies ...

we've now evolved to the point when we are expected to worship those who attended 50k/year universities

  9. stu

    stu

Civilization started despite religion not because of it. Religion is just one more reason civilizations fight.

  10. Civilizations are made up of particles that pop in and out of existence like magic. Maybe they fight with each other because of black magic.
