CHINA TELLS AMERICA: Turn Around The USS George Washington

China has warned against military activity near its coastline ahead of U.S.-Korea naval exercises, according to Reuters.

China's Foreign Ministry said in an online posting that naval exercises risks starting a war: "We oppose any military act by any party conducted in China's exclusive economic zone without approval."

U.S. to Send Aircraft Carrier Into Waters Off China for Drills

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-...-south-korea-risking-tensions-with-china.html

The U.S. will send a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to South Korea’s west coast in the coming months for more joint drills that have sparked opposition from China.

“Part of the sequence of exercises that we conduct will be a return of the George Washington, including exercising in the Yellow Sea,” Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell told reporters yesterday in Washington, referring to the strip of water between the Korean peninsula and China. There will be more joint maneuvers over the “next several months,” both in the peninsula’s western and eastern waters, he said.

The USS George Washington took part in July 25-28 exercises off South Korea’s eastern coast designed to deter North Korea from further provocations after the communist country was accused of sinking the South Korean warship Cheonan in March. China says it is “firmly opposed” to any threatening foreign military activities near its shores as it resists a U.S. push to scale down China’s presence in the South China Sea.

The previous figures do not include the war costs. Wikileaks is obviously combining numbers.

The fact remains, Obama is weak and a poor leader. You can find numbers and make statement all day long that it isn't the case but most here will agree with me that he is a weak, AWOL President. This applies not just to military action but to all his actions. It is even obvious to the democrats in Congress.

  6. But the Chinese snuck up on the aircraft carrier.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
American military chiefs have been left dumbstruck by an undetected Chinese submarine popping up at the heart of a recent Pacific exercise and close to the vast U.S.S. Kitty Hawk - a 1,000ft supercarrier with 4,500 personnel on board.

By the time it surfaced the 160ft Song Class diesel-electric attack submarine is understood to have sailed within viable range for launching torpedoes or missiles at the carrier.

Uninvited guest: A Chinese Song Class submarine, like the
one that sufaced by the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk:

According to senior Nato officials the incident caused consternation in the U.S. Navy.

The Americans had no idea China's fast-growing submarine fleet had reached such a level of sophistication, or that it posed such a threat.

One Nato figure said the effect was "as big a shock as the Russians launching Sputnik" - a reference to the Soviet Union's first orbiting satellite in 1957 which marked the start of the space age.

The incident, which took place in the ocean between southern Japan and Taiwan, is a major embarrassment for the Pentagon.

The lone Chinese vessel slipped past at least a dozen other American warships which were supposed to protect the carrier from hostile aircraft or submarines.

And the rest of the costly defensive screen, which usually includes at least two U.S. submarines, was also apparently unable to detect it.

  10. As I said I wish he was weak. While he keeps attention on the fight to cut 50 billion in discretionary spending he keeps attention off the fact that he is spending almost a trillion dollars on wars and defense

I wish the tea party and fiscal conservatives would concentrate on the almost trillion dollars on defense and war spending and less on a measly 50 billion in discretionary spending
