I am a realist, not a fantasist. I hope you realized by now that on a grand scale this epidemic is not and never has been about death. The death rate is negligible in historical context. But humans and hence also politicians these days are maniacally affected by the "no man left behind syndrome". Combine that with the medical science of evolution and mutation then new variants are an absolute given and our reaction to it is absolutely predictable.
The reality is that pandemics end with the type of virus like Omicron. A faster spreading but milder type. Read your history books. We knew there were going to be 3-4 waves and app. 2 years as it plays out. It could have been a bit longer and way more deaths, but thanks to vaccines, we are at the end of it. Sooner everyone will be immunized, by vaccine or nature. People should get vaccinated and use sensible caution but live their lives as before. I had 3 vacations (travels) in the last 4 months, I don't kiss strangers (nor do I lick door knobs) and don't attend large parties with a bunch of unvaxxed idiots. But other than that, my life has changed very little. And neither should yours. Life is full of obstacles and dangers. A 12 year old using common sense could decide the obvious ways to avoid dying of Covid, if an adult is not capable doing that, then....
