Is Jim Cramer a Hypocrite, shyster, just plain stupid, or is he a genius

  1. And Paris Hilton is famous for being born rich, doing absolutely nothing & making a porn video. Oh did I forget to mention that she is actually making a lot of money through her celebrity icon status.

Noone mentioned that a big portion of Cramer's strategy at the fund was front-running large institutional orders, courtesy of connections from Goldman. Of course on K&C he bashed day traders that scalp instutitional orders as maggots. How ironic, I guess if we use inside info in regards to who is buying up and when, then it's ok.

I've watched a recent "Mad Money" show, JC definitely looks like he knows what he is talking about. During the lighting round, however, they allowed questions about some companies that I happened to know from trading the stocks & following them. JC is either lying or is completely clueless cause he was dead wrong on 3 out 4 of them.

comparison to hilton might be valid if he got everything handed to him or was living off his dad's name.

the more i hear/read about cramer the more i dislike him but thats not to say he doesn't have alot of talent. Although I do agree that he is a huge self promotor (although most famous ppl on tv are).

you could be right about the lightening round. my guess was in alot of those stocks he just looks at the chart then confirms the direction. But maybe i'm wrong and he really does have an informed opinion on all of them.

I view his show purely as entertainment, with the potential to learn something or make money (either trading with or against him). His style is what makes him controversial...

For those who hate cramer, is there any one else you do like on financial tv(alternatives)?

  3. That's exactly it - Showtime.

Cramer's Mad Money is Entertainment, and you can bet that he and CNBC will ride it for as long as they can - and why not?
Just have some laughs and allow his market-making-inefficiencies :D to work for you...month after month...

In 1988, after Rush Limbaugh's political talk show in then-ultra conservative Orange County, CA, had became so popular, he was dressed up, given a fatter paycheck, and rushed off to the Big Apple for the really Big Time audiences.

It wasn't too long afterwards, when many of his original, faithful listeners began to ask, "Rush, what's gotten into you?"
His rather plaintive response was something like, "Hey, what can I do? They've got me all repackaged to be an Entertainer...!
    It's all about Entertainment, now!"

  4. I threw the Hilton example off the top of my head but the point is that just because he is making money, does not make him smart or hardworking or anything besides a charlatan. His career and start are owed to his wife, so in a way he did piggyback someone.
Someone has got to do the pump job, hence there is Cramer who possibly just got lucky. He got the crazy persona, I'll give him that. The show is entertaining and I bet that it helps CNBC's ratings.

As for the lighting round, the calls are screened and there is a pool of stocks. I've seen maybe 4 shows and in each there are some morons asking about garbage like NT, LU, OSTK as well as JC pump jobs of VLO, BAC and others. I like how almost all of the callers sounds like rednecks & trailor trash. JC needs to reach the whales of dumb investors cause those 100-1000 share lots leave little for the Cramer day traders. Seems like they are just scalping each other.

  5. They are airing the show 3 times a night now..

5pm, 8pm & 11pm CST.. (may be off on one of those times)

so it must be getting decent ratings...

I don't know how he knows so much about so many different companies .. unless like someone said he's making some of it up or just plain wrong on a lot of it
