That's why your idea would not work out so well. The high proportion of fundamentalist ideologues in those red states would pose a serious national security risk. Think Taliban, but in proximity. Kicking them out would be their excuse to go full out Middle East on the rest of the country. They already want their religious "values" passed into law. If that's not an early warning sign...
