Oil up over $2 last night. Crossed the $100 rubicon. $4 gas is a near certainty in the next week.

  5. So the current national average is 3.87. All time high is 4.11 back in summer 2008. Price of oil then was what, 145 or so? Current price of oil is 100 for all practicle purposes. It would seem that 3.87 is quite inflated in relation to the current price of oil as compared to the past oil/gas price ratio, by like buck a gallon. Something stinks! And we all know what it is.

Gasoline Prices Drop to Cheapest in Nearly 4 Years

"The average price of U.S. retail gasoline dropped 18 cents in the past two weeks to the lowest level in nearly four years, driven by a steep drop in oil prices, according to the latest Lundberg survey released on Sunday. Prices fell 18 cents to an average of $3.08 per gallon for regular grade gasoline, according to the fortnightly survey conducted on Oct. 24, the lowest price since Dec. 2010.

"The fall mirrors a drop in crude oil prices that have been pressured by ample global supplies and weak demand over the past four months. "The overwhelming reason why gasoline prices are down is that crude oil prices have fallen," said survey publisher Trilby Lundberg. The gasoline price is down from a 2014 peak of $3.72 hit in May and is 29 cents lower than the same period a year ago, she said. The highest price in the country was recorded in San Francisco at $3.45 per gallon, with the lowest price in Memphis at $2.73."

It's awesome! I can fill my SUV for under $60 for the first time in recent memory! Good job Mr. President!

Certainly much needed relief for those struggling with falling wages (or no wages).

Of course, when Obama took office, it was $1.89 a gallon. But let's not look a gift horse in the mouth!
