IS it smart to avoid shorting stocks of companies that I love?

  1. From a psychological perspective is better not to short companies that I love (e.g. Goog and appl) for short term profits, and just stick to shorting companies I have a more neutral stance on such as sndk or csco.

Would the fact that I have long term growth prospects for these companies in addiction to loving their products bias my ability to short these companies for short term momentum based profits?

Shouldn't go long companies you love either.

  3. there should be no love and hate, only charts and setups. If you "love" a company, i.e. you have a long term upward bias, unless you have some reason to doubt your system giving you a short-sell entry, you should take the setup.

  4. i have no problem shorting stocks that i own in my long term investment account. if i see some sort of trend in them then i try to take advantage of it.

  5. What's LOVE got to do with it?
