From a psychological perspective is better not to short companies that I love (e.g. Goog and appl) for short term profits, and just stick to shorting companies I have a more neutral stance on such as sndk or csco. Would the fact that I have long term growth prospects for these companies in addiction to loving their products bias my ability to short these companies for short term momentum based profits?
From a psychological perspective is better not to short companies that I love --------------------- Shouldn't go long companies you love either.
there should be no love and hate, only charts and setups. If you "love" a company, i.e. you have a long term upward bias, unless you have some reason to doubt your system giving you a short-sell entry, you should take the setup.
i have no problem shorting stocks that i own in my long term investment account. if i see some sort of trend in them then i try to take advantage of it.
