He said, "On the one hand you can make drought during the growing season so that nothing will grow, and on the other hand you can make for very heavy rains during harvest season so the fields are too muddy to bring in the harvest, and indeed one might be able to do both." There was no statement how this would be done. It was stated that either it was already possible or very very close to being possible.
I'm surprised so many people have problems trading natural disasters like it was something they wouldn't do given a money making opportunity. unethical or not, if there is a disaster somewhere, and all the companies are obliterated, SHOULDNT their stock go down? shouldnt people sell like crazy to accurately represent whats going on? won't Value investors pick up the scraps if their analysis shows anything is salvageable? should a company's stock, countries currency, etc, remain artificially high from the investors, when it may or may not from the consumers? i don't know - but the market will decide based on the aggregate decisions of all the players, whatever that may be at the time. You guys forget your purpose in the market is to make it more efficient (IMHO), and to pass up an oppotunity to make it more efficient (make money) goes against the whole idea of trading. you guys are trading on a number going up or down, but what people on this thread are talking about is derivatives - guilt.

I have been amazed over the years what many people will do in the excuse of "IT's only business". Well how about Bill Clinton saying, Hey, Whats your problem, it was just a regular BJ? I wonder if the soreheads on the other side of the aisle would have accepted that as "NORMAL" and not give impeachment a second thought. I mean is sex not normal and cool... "It's only business" and "in the name of National Security" is a cop out for immoral and unethical behavior. We expect better from our own children........:eek:
We are in the making of a natural disaster as we speak, one caused by man as usual. Look at your thermometer of the air outside, then look at the calendar. The scientific community has for a long while now claimed the earth warming is for real. The evidence builds daily, man is cooking themselves into extinction. Maybe this is why the republicans are spending like drunken sailors. What else could cause them to act in such a reckless manner?....
