I did 20%+ per month, trading just stocks on a 2:1 margin account, I was jumping on what was HOT at the time, riding and jumping off, say the run into earnings but out before the earning, can make 5% there in a hour or 3 with 100% of account in. ( 2.5% allowing for margin )
Well, sure. Even a blind dog can find a bone sometimes*. The challenge is to be "successful over time". *Back in the days when I traded mutual funds in the US Investing Championships, there was one firm who made ~100% one year (by loading up on gold and Hong Kong shares) to snatch that year's crown away from me. Checking back on their track record, however, they made almost zero percent for the 5 years before and also the 5 years after. Can't imagine how they kept their clients through all of that... except for the one big year, of course. Most money management clients bail if there is ever much more than the slightest weakness or underperformance.
nmga Take a lot of 20% months to turn my poor ass into even slightly less poor lol PDC as forced to hold over night ie over earnings and the risk blew it
Useless to explain on ET. Most people here have no clue about the power of the combination: leverage, frequency and compounding. But they should be used in the correct way.
Mostly American investor with money 10%per year is great for them types, haven't got the time for frequency, why they won't see the potential.
thanks for reminder not to waste my time. my research today brought for me a new version of the old, well known story.
do you need that 5% for expenses or can you buy and hold? are you getting a salary for daily expenses or are you Gates or Soros Or Buffet son or daughter.?
