So is being a trader deviant from the norm of behavior, and a successful trader is even more deviant...
Do stalkers make a choice? Some men are driven to stalk women. Some people are rapists - the thrill, the need, etc. Pedophiles are hard to rehabilitate, because the urge is so strong. Some adults want the right to have sex with children. There were a couple of female school teachers in the news over this the last couple of years. All are a form of an "orientation." Perhaps they would argue vigorously if someone said they chose to do this. In other words, homosexuality is one of many non-traditional sexual orientations. Is it a choice? Are the others?
It is hard for many people to control their urges, no doubt. This is unfortunate for those who have the type of urges that will land them in prison. Those who have urges that drive them to commit acts of abuse of others will of course be punished by society. Those who have urges to engage in consensual adult sex and then fall in love and want to marry that person are not doing anything wrong. To be attracted to someone, have sex with them, fall in love with them, and then marry has been happening for quite some time now. That a person goes through this process with someone of the same sex should be as legal as someone who does so with a member of the opposite sex. It all boils down to what consenting adults should be able to do with each other in the privacy of their lives...
Homosexual behavior exhibited in other species (birds I think are one) sounds like it is rooted in biology - maybe the levels of hormones during gestation. One male bird trying to boff another male bird is displaying behavior it's wiring believes is "natural" to it without moral interpretation. Introducing societal, religious, and cultural morality into the subject after that is a whole other subject. So to the original question "Is homosexuality a choice?" I would say "No".
Your post invalidates your earlier Pavlovian reference, since Pavlov was able to generate a consistent response with the stimulus provided. Your theory is starting to get a bit murky and rather like forcing a square peg into a round hole, so to speak. Further, comparing an affinity to the family business with sexual orientation is rather misguided anyway. Are you consciously choosing to be obtuse or were you born that way?
Sophistry Tdog. Pavlov addressed a specific statement in this exchange. You are using that answer to address another statement indepentdent of the original statement with regards to Pavlov. Who is being inconsistent? Damned Maple Leafs
And yet, u still have not given a concrete definition of marriage. U keep using the word, humor me for the sake of the discussion and define it. Methinks if u do that, however, it will undermine your thesis statement. So I guess u will keep ducking
TGanntrader, you think a man goes with the woman or woman with man only because the society say that is the right way? Not from their nature? So if a society say do anything you want to do, no punishment, you think men and women would not be so common? I think it is not choice. Most people in the world attract to opposite sex. Some do not. All the culturals have gay people, even the cultures who are very oppressive to gay people. So you think if your parents did not tell you what is the right person to be with, you would not choose opposite sex? Hmm, no, I think you go to who you attract to.
