Lets go back in time 32 years and look what was happening in the country. On August 13, 1977 You had a very popular democrat as the President. The democrat President scolded Americans for consuming too much. The House of Representives was controlled by Democrats. The Senate was controlled by Democrats and they held a super majority of 60 seats. The GOP was battered after one of the largest political scandals of all time. Democrats were assured in their confidence that they would be in total controll for several more election cycles. The Democrats were on constant attack of one the GOPs rising stars calling him a political and intellectual lightweight. They constantly ridiculed his old profession as an actor. It seems a lot like now, doesn't it. I put this list together in just a few minutes and I sure there are many more parallels. Feel free to add some.
